Because some of the files to download are archives, and not installers, you will need a extractor program such as WinRAR or 7-zip.
Patch download links are below, download them all before starting. Notice that under each version number there are several links. These are "mirrors" so you don't have download all below a version number, they are just backups if the first link under the version number doesn't work. Links/downloads from Mission4Today.com require login for Mission4Today.com.

Installation:
If the installation doesn't start automatically upon enterin the DVD to the drive, or by clicking the DVD in explorer, open the DVD contents in exlorer and search for "a.exe", or plain "a" if your explorer doesn't show file extensions. This will start the installation.
Install the game from DVD to your hardrive, for example in the folder "C:\Games\IL-2 1946". This is your "main installation". After installing, the game will in version 4.06, 4.07 or 4.08 depending on the DVD version. In every step after this, we will use the folder "C:\Games\IL-2 1946" as our installation path (excluding the mod packs).
Install patch 4.11.1 to your main install.
Install patch 4.12.1 to your main install.
Install patch 4.12.2 to your main install.
- If you want to install HSFX 7, make a copy of your main install and give it a suffix "HSFX 7". After this, install HSFX 7 to this new folder ("C:\Games\IL-2 1946 HSFX 7"). After this, install the patch 7.0.1 to the same folder.
Finally, name you main installation ("C:\Games\IL-2 1946") to describe the version it is, for example "IL-2 1946 4.12.2".
And you are done
Usage:
You can change the game version to be used with HyperLobby by disconnecting HL, and then pressin the Connect -button with the second (right) mouse button. This will open a selection screen where you can input the folder path for the game version to use. Enter the path + il2fb.exe to the path field, for example, with HSFX6 this might be "C:\Games\IL-2 1946 HSFX 6\il2fb.exe".
