A Hello From 5./JG27

Viesti Kirjoittaja Gerhard Homuth » Ti Joulu 21, 2010 01:01

Hello there pilots from Lentolaivue 34!

I'm Homuth, Unterfeldwebel in our staffel 5./JG27 and appointed to communicate with our *historical* allies the Finns ;) ,

As a result of Mikko Moilanen's request to fly along in our conquest to destroy the communist 69th GIAP, I thought a little introduction of our Staffel would be appropriate :)
We as 5./JG27 have not been around for that long, we started as a bunch of fanatics who regularly flew online together, but not having an actual stand alone squad, we were part of a Darkest Hour community ( an 1st person shooter ) but we started on our own a year ago. Since then we had quite a lot of new recruits and now have about 8 active fighter pilots and some more not so active ones, and 3 Stuka pilots who have already seen action against the Russians by bombing columns of vehicles.

The Russians seem to be quite stiff if it comes down to certain rules so we are not quite sure what they will think about an aiding hand, but telling the truth I really couldn't care less about their opinion when it's not stated in their strict rules.

We would like to propose that some joint training in IL2 might be necessary to get to know each other as well as some voice contact as for strategy concerns.

I'll keep in touch,

Gerhard Homuth

S!

I am very glad you have responded quicly to my inquiry about possibility for at least me to support you in fight against the red menace. Even though it is not for me to decide, I look forward to see fruitful co-operation between our staffels in fight against communists, I look forward to see the tide turning, and I look forward to see 69th GIAP obliterated in air as well as in ground. I hope the officials of LLv34 answer to you quicly and sort out training and coms with you so we can together do effectively what is needed.

Indeed the virtual skies would need a boost in form of a well organized event/campaign. Seems I need to dust my Bf109G soon after new control hardware has been fully configured for use. Quite a coincidence as Gerhard Homuth, MIA pilot in Russia after scoring a kill on a P39 Airacobra, might be a relative of my son's godfather.

Great Flanker! I have been wondering how I could start you up. But as for now, I want to celebrate this hopefully incoming new alliance with some good music. Hopefully you don't mind listening some punk rock :)

That is indeed a bloody coincidence, and interesting as well, I guess nobody can tell what exactly happened to him, nonetheless a great pilot and I admire him very much for that.

As for the Bf109G, that privilege is not given to us on the Ostfront I'm afraid, you'll have to get used to the Bf-109E-7/Z since JG27 never got their hands on the F series during operation Barbarosssa ;)

How many pilots would like to aid us in our effort to push on towards Smolensk and kill every last one of those communists? The reason why I ask this is because we operate with more or less historical numbers ( at least that's what my superior told me),

Here's the list of planes that are available to us and the enemy during a single mission:

ENEMY

12 fighters of only two types. ( MiG YaK I-16)
3 Bombers ( SB-2 )
1 Spotter plane

We the Germans ( and voluntary Finns )

8 Fighters (Bf-109 E7Z)
4 Stuka and or 110's
1 Spotter plane

In total each team has a number of aircraft to their exposal, for the soviets that would be 4 Yak-1s in total, If we manage to destroy those 4 It will come down to the MiGs and I16s, and this also counts for us of course.

Our missions are based on an attack and defense based war, we've now had 1 attack mission which we lost since the stuka's did not hit enough vehicles, and our losses in the air were more then they suffered, in our second mission they were on the attack but their bombers failed to attack their designated targets, and we had more aerial victories then the soviets.

The numbers are also made this way since we count on 8 fighter pilots at the most and we aim for a high Human flown aircraft percentage, maybe some changes can be made in order to get more fighters in the air than we now have.

After the holidays we will continue this campaign against the soviets, and hopefully we can do some training together in the near future.

Homuth

PS: I you have any questions or suggestions they will be most welcome, this is only our second campaign versus another squad so we are still learning ;)
Oh and some propaganda papers for you to enjoy,

I volunteer! I can also fly any aircraft. Bf 110 is fine, Stuka is fine, Bf 109 is more than fine. Just put me in somewhere I am most useful for the war effort, though I will require fighter missions at times. I have a thing on Bf 110, so I can gladly take the honour to fly the Zerstörer. The same goes with Stuka, but ultimately I am a fighter pilot.

Good good, we also have a 110 nut in our squad :D , that plane attracts a lot of people it seems, I just started a new campaign with my 110 today, it's called Die Wespen from PhilK, it's really good.

Any more volunteers to join us in the air? And please state like Mikko what you would like to fly, then we can try getting you in the plane you like :)

Last known from G.Homuth was on the fight over Russia after he was transferred there. They heard him say in radio: I got him! I got him! His kill was a P39. But he never returned to base. So most possible he was bounced by another P39 and shot down. No-one saw him bail or hear call for help in radio. So MIA, propably KIA.

Bf110 is a nice plane to fly if done right. Keep the speed and it does quite fine.

I volunteer too! I too can fly the 110 and Stuka if need be. Prefer the Bf109 of course :)

What time is this SEOW flown exactly?

Hey there Untamo,

This campaign we fly is hand made by us with intel from both 69th GIAP and us 5./JG27, just a regular co-op campaign. The soviets have invited us to play this totally new for us SEOW campaign which we don't know anything about, we've agreed that when we finish our campaign that we will consider flying a SEOW with them, maybe together with Lentolaivue 34 as well?

What I understand from SEOW was that you would control all forces, land sea and air, and your victory will make progress in the war, but there's the thing I don't get, battles are not won by the airforce, they are to make sure they can assist the ground forces and always remain their to assist the ground forces, Or do I totally misunderstood, since I have also never taken part in one. :?
